Girls Together

Well, that was quick; back in the air, en route to Edinburgh. It was great to see Nicola, and to meet her friends, and of course be back in Nice once again. This time I ventured out of Nice, visiting Antibes and Ville Franche; oh I DO like to be beside the seaside, especially when it’s in France. Her friends, Rachael and Ellie, were very welcoming, and it was great to meet new people to tell all of my old stories, which Nicola must’ve heard a thousand times.

So, apart from seeing daughter number three again, what were the highlights of my visit? We visited the cat cafe, where the cats were very amenable, unlike my own princess Tootsie! I was able to stroke them for more than seven seconds-and they didn’t scratch me once. It was really nice to hear Nicola speaking so confidently in French, and also to see her looking more confident than I have seen her for a long time.

The only down side of my few days living with three beautiful young women, was leaving this morning. Sitting with them and chatting reminded me of my own youth, staying up late, drinking ridiculous amounts of alcohol, and feeling that life couldn’t get any better. They seem to have embraced the student life in a foreign country with apparent ease, although I’m sure that isn’t how if feels to them. I know it is early days, but I believe I can confidently say that the three of them are good friends, and they will support each other as they continue their journey through student life in Nice; three beautiful young women, in the beautiful Cote d’Azur, making beautiful memories together. I can go home, safe in the knowledge, that Nicola has come of age, and that I can release her to be the beautiful butterfly she is.
